What I Learned Last Weekend

Last weekend, I traveled to the Cleveland, OH area to observe a youth leadership training retreat.  Leadership training is an area I want LOG to focus on in the future, so I went to see what I could learn.

I learned a lot!
- I learned a few new games and activities
- I was reminded of the value of experiential learning vs traditional classroom style
- I picked up some good ideas about how to train leaders
- I made connection with a couple of new colleagues in ministry

But I really learned was that I love LOG!

I love what we do - I love how we do things.

I love who we are - students, adults, friends.

I enjoyed being in Ohio - but I missed being with you.

I am so grateful to God for the privilege of leading MYM and sharing in the Love Of God the way we do.  I am so thankful for each one of you and for the time we have together.

I am so proud of what we've done - of the community that we have and the joy we find in serving God in the unique and special way we call LOG.

I can't wait to see you next time!

Scroll down to see some more of Lucy's photos from the LOG #69 team meeting (we really need someone to shoot pics for us at #70 team) but be sure to check out the important info between here and there.  As we get closer to the weekends, there will be lots to keep in mind so don't skip the info ...

Indescribable!

The L.O.G. #70 team watched part of an awesome video featuring a message by Louie Giglio.

Based on Chris Tomlin's song "Indescribable", pastor Louie Giglio leads us to recognize the amazing love of God as expressed in the vastness of our universe.

It's about 45 minutes long, but be sure to watch the first 8 minutes or so - and then the last 5 minutes.  Even if you have seen it before, it will move you to praise and thanksgiving.

Both LOG teams are entering the final stretch now - most participants are confirmed and project work is getting wrapped up.  Please be prayerful these days!  Pray for our co's, our teams.  Pray that God will do amazing things through us and our participants will have weekends that will last a lifetime.

---

And please pray for me as I travel to Ohio this weekend (missing the LOG #70 overnight and the LOG #69 team meeting) to observe a leadership training event near Cleveland.  I feel God leading me/us to a new focus on how we can enhance our leadership training and offer it to more youth and adults in the Michiana area.

Thanks to our fabulous adult teams for stepping up and making it possible for me to be gone even at this crucial time of the LOG season.

Less Than A Month!

It's just a few weeks away from our fall weekends and things are heating up!

So here are just a few things - and then some more photos from LOG #69 overnight and team meeting (thanks, Lucy & Jace)

Get your participants confirmed.  LOG #69 has 18 first-time participants and LOG #70 has 14.  Not everyone is confirmed yet.

Bring back your team stuff back:  the gold "parent help with meals" form and your new medical form.  Also your $65 team fee please.  ASAP!

Send me your blessings for the LOG weekends so we can surround the participants with love.

Follow me on Twitter (@mym4log) to keep up to date during these last weeks.

One more ND game on Saturday, November 3rd.  We've raised $750 so far so we need a big day to get close to the $1000 we raised last year.

Snacks:
#70 - Bella and Vinnie
#69 - Alyssa and ________

Anyone want to add more?

Five Things That Will Amaze You ...

Ok - so maybe you won't be amazed, but I hope you find these facts both interesting and uplifting - I'm sure that Charlotte would ...

#1 - There are 72 youth and 20 adults serving on LOG teams this season - and we are more than halfway through the team process.  That means our fall LOG weekends are less than a month away!

#2 - There are 32 first-time participants signed up for our fall LOG weekends - 17 for LOG #69 and 14 for LOG #70 - - and we are still expecting more to sign up this week.

#3 - Over one thousand teenagers have attended a LOG weekend - 1172 to be exact! So we'll exceed 1200 by the end of this fall.  Since 1997, LOG has been a weekend that can last a lifetime.  Many LOG alums have in the past or now do serve as adult advisors.  Some alums give monthly to help insure that we can continue to reach more and more youth with the love of God in the years to come.

#4 - We have raised nearly $1900 to support LOG over the past six weeks!  We brought in $1300 at the BBQ ribs event on October 5th - and we have raised $596.00 by selling programs at three Notre Dame home football games.  Thanks to all who have helped by to make this possible.

#5 - Terry is now on Twitter!  I am @mym4log.  And I need you to follow me.  I won't be posting every little thing I eat, do or think - but I will Tweet (still have trouble using that verb) whenever I post to the LOGblog or team group on Facebook.  Following me will give you one more way to keep up on important stuff in the LOG community.
Please follow me and set the notifications so that you get a message when I tweet (I feel like a bird!)

Thanks to Lucy, there are some more photos from LOG #69 below - but be sure to read the good info as you scroll by!
