Can You Guess What We Were Doing ...

... at the last L.O.G. #70 team meeting?   (Of course you can, if you were there)

Nope - not "elbow tag".
 Nope - not "knots".
Nope - nothing inappropriate.
Does this give it away?

Yes - our perennial favorite: "bang the bucket"!

Now - do you know why we do it?

This is usually one of the first games we play as a LOG team process begins.

That's on purpose.

#1 - it's easy and fun.
#2 - it helps people interact with lots of other people in a short amount of time.
#3 - it makes you get close to other people (maybe not as close as Vinnie and Will) and breaks the ice so people begin to feel comfortable with each other.

It's a good game!

Now - do you know what I don't like about it?
People get out.

The bucket bangs five times and people clump together and usually someone is left out and they have to go sit down.

Most don't mind - it can be fun to watch others mingle and mosh about.  But many people put on a "sad" or "dejected" face as they walk away from the fun.  They're probably not really sad, but most of us feel left out often enough in our lives - why should we have to feel it in something as simple as a game?

Two thoughts:

1 - Twice last night I saw someone "send them self out" so that someone else could stay in the game.  Sacrificed them self for another.  Maybe they were just tired and wanted to sit down - but I think it was more than that.

2 - I'm glad that LOG is a place where we welcome others in - especially new people - and strive hard to provide a safe and comfortable place for them to be themselves.  Wouldn't it be nice if the world was more about getting people in than getting people out?

It's That Time Again ...

...time to round up participants!

OK - full disclosure - - these are not real participants (although they were once) and this is not the way to "get" your participants.

Please do not kidnap, drag, coerce or strong-arm anyone to attend a L.O.G. weekend!

But it is just fine to invite, encourage, suggest and persuade.  Bribing is questionable, but sometimes effective.

Please remember:  there are no secrets, only ________.

Potential participants may register at www.michianayouth.org/events.

If they can't go online, call them on the phone while you are in front of your computer and have them give you answers to the questions and then "send" it for them.

A participant is not confirmed until we receive their medical form and registration fee back.

Please note that there is a $20.00 discount if the form and money are received before the deadline (which is one month before the date of the weekend).

Let the round up begin ...

Another first ...

L.O.G. #70's first team meeting ...
We're happy to be back!
Looks like Prom - but you know what we're playing ...
Actually - I'm not sure what these two are playing...

------------------

L.O.G. #70 team's first meeting was full of fun and friendship: elbow tag, care-o-cell questions, singing and devo!

Welcome to the first-timers:  Phillip, Emy, Ellie, Morgan and Madison.

Welcome back to a few we hadn't seen in awhile:  Melinda and Wyatt.

So glad to have our faithful-ones - - too many to name!

CoLeaders Isaac and Mary Kate are very excited about their team!

------------------

Between now and next meeting ...
keep reflecting on how you "stick it between your teeth".  How can you "speak up for Christ; live for Christ; not deny Christ; "die" for Christ"?

Mark your calendars for our overnight on October 25-26.  Ask off work now!

Snacks next week:  Will and Morgan L.

Participant sign ups begin on Sunday, September 1.

CYA next week!

And we're off!

Our first LOG #69 team meeting was a great time of re-union!

So much fun ...
 So many hugs ...
 So many people ...

Maybe - - too many people ...??

You say - how can it be too many people?

Experience shows that the larger the team, the more difficult it is for people to get to know everyone on team so many people just hang with the friends they already know.

Experience shows that the larger the team, the more often people think "ah, they won't miss me if I don't make it to the team meeting - they'll still get the work done without me".

But we don't want to tell anyone that they cannot serve on a LOG team.  So we accepted everyone who signed up for this team.

In the team covenant you will sign next week, you will promise to strive to miss no more than two team meetings.  In the past, we've been pretty lax in enforcing this.  But with such a large team, we think this is very important and will be asking those who miss too many meetings to reevaluate their commitment to serving on the LOG #69 team.

Please explain your commitment to your parents, your employer, your coaches and your friends.  Get your homework done earlier in the weekend so you don't have that hanging over your head on Sunday afternoons.

Please remember - if you cannot make it to a meeting you must call Jenae, Sarah or Terry (you can find the phone numbers on the LOG #69 Facebook page).  Please do not post to the FB page or send email or texts - we want to talk with you.

Look at the bottom right hand corner of the main page - you can add your email address and you will get an email whenever this blog is updated.

Reminder to Team #69 ...
 - Sweet snacks - Courtney M
- Salty snacks - Mimi B
- other (more sweet)? - Keegan B

Everyone - please bring some drinks or all we will have is ice water each week!

We are looking forward to seeing you again next Sunday.
